Right now Eloise is stable and resting behind me in the bed. Her levels look good (with support of course), but she is going to need a blood transfusion at some point today. Apparently, that is pretty common in these situations. Her red cells just aren't strong or efficient enough right now, is my understanding.
The report shows that there is definitely an infection in her lungs, some could call it pneumonia, but they are very slow to "label" things around here, b/c it is not just one thing causing all of this. It appears to have started with a virus, but they have yet to identify what strain. They have ruled out RSV and Flu and are continuing other tests for other viral strains, but the word infection is used a lot as well. The Drs said she will get worse before she gets better, so we'll see. Today she is a little worse, but there are also good signs. She is more active and moving more (which they have to sedate after a while) but it shows that she is feeling better and that she has some fight in her:) I am continuing to talk to her and put my hands on her, knowing that it has to comfort her and reassure her on some level, even if she isn't totally aware. Today I brought her some fuzzy socks for her toesies and her name sign from the NICU. We probably won't be posting a lot of pictures in the next few days, b/c they are saying she is going to be swelling quite a bit, so we'll see.
Sadie is at the Dr right now getting checked, b/c she has been getting worse as well. We will see what they advise with her. Hopefully we will not wind up with 2 girls in ICU, but they said it isn't uncommon with siblings. The good thing is that she is older and heartier. I also have whatever this virus is, but right now it is just in my sinuses as much as I can tell. I am trying to do everything I can to stay healthy myself, so we will see how it manifests in the days to come. washing hands.....masks...etc
The Dr has told us that we could be here for 2 to 3 weeks at this rate with E. She has to be completely better before she can go home.
Please pray for the blood transfusion today to go well and for Eloise to have continued improvement and no adverse affects from everything they are doing to her. Also, that my milk supply will keep up. They are giving E milk through a feeding tube right now and I need to keep it coming. My supply has already significantly decreased, but we are hoping it will come back up in the next few days. Please also pray for the health of Sadie, and lastly for myself, and that Bo would stay healthy. Pray for strength, energy, and good health for my parents as well, who are helping us constantly right now!
Thank you so much for covering our family in prayer during this time! We feel very loved and know that prayers are going up on our behalf. We don't know why this is happening but we do know our God, and that he is constant and true. He tells us twice in the bible, "Never will I leave you, Never will I forsake you!" We know this is true and that He is with us now!
Will update as we get more info!
